Summary
Their shoppers had stopped Googling and started asking. Before buying, they type the question straight into ChatGPT or Google's AI and take the answer it gives. Whoever that answer cites wins the sale before a comparison ever happens.
The brand published one article built to be that source: a genuinely useful, better-researched answer to a question its buyers actually ask. Nine days later, both ChatGPT and Google AI Mode were pulling from it. Not just linking it in a sidebar. Naming the brand inside the answer, quoting its recommendation, and listing it as the top source ahead of the big health publishers.
One piece of content, working across two AI engines, with no ad spend behind it.
The Challenge
When the client came to us, the problem was easy to name and hard to fix.
- Their buyers ask ChatGPT and Google's AI what to buy. Those answers were shaped by health publishers and other brands, not by them.
- Ranking on page one no longer guarantees the sale. The AI reads the page one, writes the answer, and the shopper never scrolls to the brand.
- If the assistant doesn't cite you, you're invisible at the exact moment someone is deciding what to buy.
The Solution: EA's AI Search Visibility System
We built the content AI wants to cite, and the outside signals that tell it to. Four parts.
01. Find the questions AI is already answering
- We mapped the exact buyer questions their shoppers put to ChatGPT and Google's AI before purchase.
- Then studied who those answers currently cite, and where the brand could take that slot.
- One authoritative, genuinely useful article, better sourced than the pages AI was leaning on.
- Structured so an assistant can lift a clear recommendation straight out of it.
- AI trusts a claim more when real communities echo it, so we reinforced the recommendation on Reddit.
- On one query, an organic Reddit thread sat in the top sources right alongside the brand's article.
The Results
Five buyer queries, captured on the same day in fresh logged-out US sessions. One evidence card per query. Brand redacted.
"Best fiber gummies for men who want an easy prep routine?"
Google went past citation and named the brand directly inside its own answer text, recommending the product by name. The article also held two spots in the source rail. Being named in the answer itself is the strongest placement AI search offers.
"how many fiber gummies for real prep results"
Why this is the win that matters
AI answers are the new shelf. More shoppers ask an assistant what to buy and act on the first answer, without ever opening a list of blue links. When that answer names the brand and quotes its recommendation, the brand wins the decision before any comparison starts.
And it lasts. One article keeps getting pulled into new answers across engines, for weeks and months, without another dollar spent. That's the difference between renting attention with ads and owning the recommendation itself.
